About Heritage Christian School
A place to learn, grow, belong, and discover what comes next.
Heritage Christian School was founded to give homeschooled students a place to grow through education, community, opportunity, and athletics while remaining free to learn in ways that fit the individual student.
Built around students and families.
Heritage Christian School is a church school serving homeschool families and students whose education may not follow a traditional classroom model.
We believe students need more than coursework. They need opportunities to discover their strengths, build relationships, take responsibility, try difficult things, develop their abilities, and be part of a community.
Home education gives families tremendous flexibility. HCS exists alongside that flexibility—not to make every family’s homeschool look the same, but to give students and families support, connection, resources, and opportunities as they build an education that fits.
“Find what God put in you, pursue it well, and help other people do the same.”
Every student brings different interests, abilities, challenges, and possibilities. Education should help young people discover those things, develop them well, and learn how to use what they have been given in ways that matter.
What we want students to carry with them.
Education is more than completing assignments. It is also about developing the character to use knowledge, ability, and opportunity well.
Do what is right and treat others with dignity.
Bring your best to the work in front of you.
Value people, opportunity, and responsibility.
Let character guide choices even when no one is watching.
Be dependable and learn to depend on others well.
Own choices, work, progress, and mistakes.
Keep learning, improving, and moving forward.
Pursue quality with humility and purpose.
Coach Clay saw a need—and built something to meet it.
Heritage Christian School was founded by Coach Clay.
As a homeschool father, he understood the needs of his own children. Through years of coaching children in recreational and travel baseball, he also knew many other families whose children were educated at home.
He saw that homeschooled students needed places to come together—to learn, build friendships, develop community, pursue interests, and participate in opportunities that are often naturally available to students in traditional schools.
HCS was founded to be that place.
Education. Community. Opportunity.
The vision was never limited to one activity or one kind of student.
Heritage Christian School brought students together under one school identity while preserving the flexibility that makes home education valuable to so many families.
From the beginning, academics, relationships, activities, and athletics could all be parts of a student’s growth.
Growing in more than one direction.
HCS was built around the whole student—education, relationships, experiences, interests, abilities, and opportunities to grow.
Education
Families have the flexibility to build learning around the student while HCS provides a school community and resources to support the homeschool journey.
Community
Homeschooled students should have places to build friendships, share experiences, serve, celebrate, collaborate, and know that they belong.
Opportunity
Academics, clubs, activities, athletics, leadership, service, creativity, work, and new experiences can all help a student discover abilities and develop them well.
Community grows when students do life together.
Some of the most meaningful parts of school happen outside a lesson plan. Trips, activities, competitions, service, celebrations, and time spent together give students room to build friendships and create shared memories.
A school can give students a place to belong.
Community has always mattered at HCS. Students and families become connected through shared experiences—learning together, competing together, working together, eating together, celebrating together, and simply showing up for one another.
That sense of belonging is not limited to a classroom, a team, or a single activity. It grows through the ordinary moments when students begin to recognize that they are part of something together.
Sports, clubs, activities, and opportunities to find your place.
Students discover a great deal about themselves when they have opportunities to participate, contribute, lead, compete, create, serve, and try something new. HCS continues to build those opportunities in ways that reflect the interests of its students.
HC Baseball
When Heritage Christian School was founded, HC Baseball began as its flagship athletic program. Baseball remains an important part of HCS history and continues to give students opportunities to compete, lead, work together, and represent their school.

HCS continues to expand opportunities beyond baseball through additional sports, clubs, activities, and other student interests. The goal is broader than competition: create places where students can participate, connect, develop skills, discover new interests, and belong.

Coach Clay founded HCS by seeing what was needed.
Coach Clay had a way of seeing potential—in a student, an athlete, an idea, or an opportunity that did not exist yet.
Heritage Christian School grew from that ability to see a need and then do the work required to meet it. What began with his own family was strengthened by years spent coaching and investing in other children and their families.
He did not simply believe young people needed opportunity. He created it.
That remains part of the responsibility of HCS today: continue building places where students can learn, belong, discover what is in them, and have the chance to pursue it.
